About Me
I'm a legal researcher at the Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative (AIGI). I study governance of, through, and by Frontier AI. Lately, my work has focused on legal alignment, risk management, open source AI, and how to build democratic and administrative governance institutions for the AI era.
My current papers under review include "Administrative Law's Fourth Settlement: AI and the Capability-Accountability Trap". My recent paper "Legal Alignment for Safe and Ethical AI" is now forthcoming in TMLR. My legal scholarship has been published in the Yale Journal of Law and Technology and the Stanford Technology Law Review. I've also presented my work in technical venues including NeurIPS. I have experience with strategic litigation and policy advocacy in the United States and in the European Union.
Prior to taking up my position at AIGI, I graduated with honors from Harvard Law School where I focused on law and technology, constitutional law and public international law. Before law school, I taught debating in China for two years during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I speak French and Mandarin Chinese.
